On August 29 1895, 21 clubs from Yorkshire and Lancashire met at the George Hotel in Huddersfield and formed Northern Rugby Union – in 1922 this became the Rugby Football League. Trace the games history at The Rugby League Heritage Centre in The George Hotel. You’ll find historic footage, The British Rugby League Hall of Fame and memorabilia including rare shirts, medals, trophies, caps programmes and photographs.

Home of our fantastic rugby league team The Huddersfield Giants, and Huddersfield Town Football Club, The John Smiths Stadium is one of Yorkshire’s leading sporting, leisure and music venues, and hosts the England V Ireland game on 2 November 2013 for the Rugby League World Cup.

By Car

From M62 west - Exit M62 at J24, follow signs for Huddersfield Town Centre(A629). After approx. 2 miles follow the signsfor the stadium turning left onto Castlegate ring road, turn left onto Leeds Road (A62), then follow the official car park signs.

From M62 east/north - Exit M62 at J25, turn left and follow signs for Huddersfield Town Centre (A62) then follow the official car park signs. From M1 south - Exit at J42, continue west on M62. Exit M62 at J25, turn left and follow signs for Huddersfield Town Centre (A62) then follow the official car park signs.

 

By Bus

It will take approximately 10-15 mins to walk from the bus station.

 

 

 

 

By Rail

Huddersfield Railway Station is situated in St.Georges Square and is approximately ½ mile from the stadium. Buses and taxis available outside the station or altenatively, walking via Northumberland Street.
