Biography

One of the NRL’s ‘feel good’ stories of 2013 has been the comeback of Bryson. Last year, while playing for the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, he ruptured his spleen. That ended his season and threatened to do the same with his career.

A one-year deal was offered by the South Sydney Rabbitohs though and Bryson has been in superb touch this year in the centres as the Rabbitohs have led the competition. He can play wing, centre or fullback and can kick goals.

Until this year, Bryson’s best season came in 2009 when he scored 20 tries for the Bulldogs. He made his Kiwi debut that year also, scoring two tries in the 40-24 defeat of Tonga, before playing in the Four Nations tournament.

Bryson, who is part-Māori, is the son of former Australian international Ted Goodwin.
