RLWC2013 Official Charity
Wooden Spoon: Official Charity of Rugby League World Cup 2013
Wooden Spoon is a children’s charity founded in 1983 that is dedicated to helping disadvantaged children and young people across the British Isles live happier, richer lives.
We partner with the rugby community, receiving invaluable support for our activities and the opportunity to raise awareness of the work we do. In doing so, we involve some of rugby’s top sporting role models in making a difference to the lives of young people in need.
Since Wooden Spoon’s conception we have raised over £20 million in 600 charitable projects that have benefitted over a million young people.
Subsequently the RFL has worked tirelessly alongside Wooden Spoon on community programmes aimed at significantly improving the lives of 16 – 19 year olds who are currently not in education, employment or training across the UK.
In its 30th year of operation, Wooden Spoon is delighted to support the dance programme as part of this year’s rugby League World Cup 2013 festival and is privileged to be named as Official Charity Partner of RLWC2013. Wooden Spoon have committed to return funds raised during this global sporting event to develop long-term legacy plans within the Rugby Football League community.
